Co-Intelligence: Great AI Primer from Ethan Mollick

I think we are all trying to figure out how artificial intelligence fits into our classes. In fact, I think we will be trying to figure this out for years to come. AI is a powerful new tool and whether we like it or not, it will be used by students, teachers, and workers. As teachers, we need to know how it can and should be used by our students.

As I have tried to figure out my own journey, Ethan Mollick has been a helpful guide. I have referenced Ethan on Teach the 4 Ps in multiple posts and encourage readers to follow him at his One Useful Thing blog. Ethan Mollick is professor of management at Wharton. Like most of us, he teaches business students. He is passionate about the science of teaching, and his insights on AI in our classes are very helpful.

Earlier this week, Ethan’s book on AI Co-Intelligence was published. I really enjoyed the book and found it valuable. The book is relatively short (only 4 hours and 39 minutes if you are an audiobook person like me). The book is written for students, educators, employees, and managers. The book provides an accessible (you don’t have to be an AI expert) and valuable perspective on how people can use AI–along with a look at some possible futures for AI. I am sure it will be a reference for me as I prepare for classes this fall. I highly recommend it for all marketing instructors–and maybe their students (and former students).
