“The Underbelly of Online Teaching”

Posted by Joe Cannon

More and more of us are being asked to teach online classes.  Some of us love the new challenge — others are being dragged reluctantly or perhaps kicking and screaming.  Unfortunately, few of us receive much training about how to succeed in this new medium — heck most of us received little training about how to teach face-to-face in our doctoral programs or from our new employers.  As we come across articles on online teaching, we like to post them for your consideration.  This one reminds us of some of the unfortunate and sometimes unexpected challenges of teaching online — see “The Underbelly of Online Teaching” (Faculty Focus, July 29, 2011).
